Decorating for the vacations jogs my memory of my great-aunt Lucy. Her Christmas tree was a working joke in our household. Aunt Lucy had a really distinctive strategy to adorning her Christmas tree … she didn’t.
Well, possibly I ought to say that she adorned it as soon as.
Aunt Lucy had a big artificial tree set in a big ceramic pot. When she bought it, she adorned it with all the ornaments that she had on the time. Every 12 months, after the vacations have been over, Aunt Lucy would transfer it from the lounge into her spare room intact, ornaments and all, to be saved for subsequent 12 months. She often moved it round Easter, as a result of, as she stated, “It’s not bothering anybody there.”
The subsequent vacation season, Aunt Lucy would trot out the Christmas tree, intact with its decorations, to be loved once more till Easter!
Looking again at what was a household joke, maybe there was one thing good about Aunt Lucy’s strategy to her Christmas tree. She used that tree and all of its ornaments for a lot of, a few years. Plus, she by no means had the stress of adorning or “de-decorating” it. She merely saved it in her spare room the place it stood adorned and prepared for its place in her lounge the following Christmas. So simple! An effective way to take a number of the stress out of the vacations.
Maybe my great-aunt Lucy wasn’t so loopy in any case!
